Set for release by Universal in October, 2010, and produced by T Bone Burnett, The Union marks the culmination of a mutual musical adoration that began in the late 1960s, ahead of Elton's debut US performance in 1970 at The Troubadour Club in Los Angeles. The album is a collaboration between Elton and Leon Russell, with songs by Elton and Bernie Taupin; by Elton, Bernie and Leon; by Elton and Leon and by Leon alone.
The Union was recorded in Los Angeles earlier this year, with guest musicians including Brian Wilson, Booker T, Don Was and Neil Young. Cameron Crowe has filmed the sessions for a documentary, creating too a moment of history as this is the first time that the genesis of Elton's music has been recorded on film. Critics who have had an early preview of the album are united in praise for the work that Elton describes as a "Seventies record with a modern feel." read more..

Not Too Little, Never Too Late! by Julie Coelho
I have been a fan of both Leon Russell and Elton John since 1970 when they both appeared on a nighttime T.V. show. I had never seen either, but had heard "Your Song" by Elton on the radio. Leon was new to me and he sang "Home Sweet Oklahoma" with his back-up singers and I was hooked and entranced. Bought every single album of theirs during the following years and then videos and C.D.'s A BIG FAN!
I was fortunate enough to see them both "live" in shows in New York .......and am a fan to this day, happily following their careers and successes.
On television The Union was good, but on C.D. the acoustics, vocals background singers and orchestra out-do the T.V. concert by far. I enjoyed watching the show(though most in the audience were too uptight to stand up and really rock)but the sound can not compare to the C.D. It is fantastic and tight and it's certainly worth spending the few bucks extra for tne DVD as well. Welcome back Leon..........good health and happiness always. Thank you too Sir Elton, Bernie and T-Bone for bringing back Leon-The-Legend in his own space and time!
